The Teatre Grec of Barcelona doesn't date back to the period that gives it its name (ancient Greece), but it is one of the most pleasant spots to visit in this part of the city. The theatre reflects the typical structure of ancient Greek theatres but was built by the architect Ramon Raventós for the 1929 fair.

Santa Maria del pi

Buildings & Churches

Santa Maria del Pi is on the Placa Sant Josep Oriol, a pretty square that is filled with an artists' market on the weekend and the outdoor tables of the Bar del Pi the rest of the time.
The church has a Romanesque door but is otherwise Catalan Gothic in style. It has a single wide nave with chapels beneath the buttresses and a giant rose window at the entrance. The interior is plain but features some beautiful stained glass windows.

Gaudí's dead

Not much people know how Gaudí died. From what it known he was hit by a tram in front of Sagrada Familia when he crossed the street aiming to go to the construction side of his masterpiece.

He lay in the hospital "Hospital de la Santa Creu", but people didn't recognise the famous artist because of his neglected appereance.

Only three days later, a friend of him found him in this hospital and asked for a private room for him. The same day, 10 July 1926 he died.
