The Santa Maria del Mar churc is a Catalan Gotchic church and one of the most beautiful churches in Barcelona. It is located in the city center of the Ribera district. Its history goes back to as early as 998 where the church has been mentioned for the first time, in official documents. The church that can be seen today was built between 1329 and 1389 in a project initiated by the canon Bernat Llull.
In the year 1936 the church suffered a fire where a lot of the building was destroyed including the artwork in the interior of the building. What survived the fire and that can still be seen when visiting the church is the incredible stained glass works of the windows. Being located in a quite hidden area and not clearly seen, the Santa Maria del Mar is worth visiting if you are in Barcelona.
Torre Agbar (Agbar Tower) is an incredible cylindrical skyscraper that is located in the 22@ Poblenou district of Barcelona. The building itself has 34 stories and an additional four underground levels. It is totally 145 metres tall which makes it the third tallest building in Barcelona.
The Vil·la Cecilia gardens are located where the old rural estate Cal Noyu used to be.
This space was acquired by Eduardo Conde in 1909, which he rebuilt into a large-scale
shopping centre. He named the area to Vil·la Cecilia, in honour of his wife. The City
Council took charge of the grounds in 1969 and transformed the area to a park.
Located in a hospital complex in the Les Corts district of Barcelona, the gardens of Maternitat was created in order to give the
area a peaceful atmosphere where the visitors can relax. The hospital complex itself was
built in the end of the 19th century and during the years the gardens were constructed to
make the area more agreeable.
The gardens of Turó del Putget (Jardins del Turó del Putget) is located in the
Sarria-Sant Gervasi district of Barcelona. It is constituted of almost 4 hectares high
above on the Putget hill with incredible viewing points of Barcelona.
