The Chinese dragon of the fountainCreated in the 17th century, this farm were acquired by the Güell family in 1862. It's Joan Martorell who was in charge of the renovation of this 30 000m2 area, thus, he created a small palace with an Italian style, a Gothic-style Chapel and some magnificent gardens. Some years later, the building remodeling was given to Antoni Gaudí who worked on the surrounding of the palace. He created a nice area with two fountains, a pergola, plenty of Mediterranean plants... The Hercules fountain restored in 1983 still can be seen, it has a bust of Hercules on the top, a catalan shape on the bottom and a Chinese dragon as a water cannon.

From 1919 to 1931, the Palau Reial de Pedralbes was the residence of the Spanish Royal Family when they visited the city. Today, it is the house of the Museu de la Ceramica and Museu d'Arts Decoratives.

Not much people know how Gaudí died. From what it known he was hit by a tram in front of Sagrada Familia when he crossed the street aiming to go to the construction side of his masterpiece.

He lay in the hospital "Hospital de la Santa Creu", but people didn't recognise the famous artist because of his neglected appereance.
