This museum has a large collection of sculptures, ceramics, textiles and ritual objects of pre-Hispanic cultures such as Meso-Amercia, Central America, Andean America and Amazon region. One of the best known collections in the world has been transferred by the Barbier-Mueller Museum of Geneva to the one in Barcelona.
The museum is housed in a medieval building, the Palau Nadal, which is situated in the Gothic area of Barcelona.
