Originally being used by the army, then being transformed into Montjuïc's Fun Fair in 1965, the city council finally converted the area into the Gardens of Joan Brossa 32 years later when the popularity of the fair decreased and the council started looking into alternative usages. In 2000 then the decision was made to construct the Gardens as we know them today. The area is now a wonderful example of how neglected landscape can be successfully converted into a popular urban recreational space. The park has characteristics of a forest as well as those of a city garden and it provides many opportunities for relaxing, playing, exercising, etc. to its visitors.

Parks
The Gardens of Ca n'Altimira have been created in the middle of the last century by an extremely wealthy and extravagant figure -Josep Altimira- who was known for his extraordinary parties and guests. After his death he donated his property to the public as he had no heirs and ever since then the Gardens have become a very romantic, unique and popular area for locals. The park has all elements of a private neighborhood garden and impresses through its many more than 100 years old trees that create a dense and almost wild atmosphere through the interplay of light and shadow.
Another unique element is the fact that the Gardens are located at a higher level than the rest of the land that creates two different parts that are connected by two bridges. Overall, the area offers romantic and silent spots to its guest and is well worth a visit.
The Garcia Faria Linear Park is a very special and unique green area that connects two different parks -the Poublenou Park and the Park Diagonal Mar. It is more than 1 km long and is perfect for biking. Long and colorful flowerbeds are aligned along the bike trails and that separate bikes from pedestrians. Another highlight of the park is the perfect location close to the beach that enables a quick access to the beautiful sea and from many spots in the park visitors can enjoy fantastic views over the beach area. Only having been established in 2004 the park is still very young yet has lots to offer. Visitors can use the area for exercising, relaxing, sunbathing, playing with children, etc.
There are many opportunities available and anybody can find something to do in this park.
This park got its name from the nearby located former railway station, the Estacio del Nord and followed an idea of integrating artistic work into natural spaces. It is an impressive piece of land-art as it has been created around one ceramic sculpture in the middle of a grassy lawn. It is a very large and wide park that combines modern architecture with traditional elements that invite the visitor to rest and enjoy the colourful flowerbeds that can be found everywhere throughout the park There are many grassy hills and lawns that enable sunbathing and children’s playgrounds are provided as well so that families can spent some good quality time there together. The main attractions of the park, however, remain the many different sculptures that are located throughout the entire areal and that show some great modern architecture to the viewer.
