Mirador de l'Alcalde

Parks

Mirador de l'AlcaldeThis exceptionally beautiful garden is on top of the Montjuïc in Barcelona close to the castle and therefore offers incredible views over the city and the ocean as its name promises. Especially remarkable in this garden is the mosaic pavement occupying a large part of the park and which has even been recognized in the catalogue of Municipal Artistic Heritage. The area is divided into four levels that are connected through stairways and paths and each has wonderful art, vegetation and views to offer. On the second level one can find the pool that collects the water coming from the beautiful cascades located on the third level. Furthermore, the garden has wonderful assortments of pine and palm trees to offer that give shade to the visitor and enable a relaxed and cool stroll through the area.

Jardins de Rosa de Luxemburg

Parks

Jardins de Rosa de LuxemburgThese Gardens are a wonderful green space for the neighbourhood in which they are located and it also serves as a luxurious playground for the school and nursery that is situated right next to it.
The gardens have different terraces that are connected through small stairways that are needed due to differences in height. Also one has a great view over the Carmel hill from the area. The park has a clear orientation towards forest vegetation, which makes it a nice space to rest in the shade and to be outside with your children and dogs.

Guineueta Park

Parks

guineaueta parkHaving been planned since the 50s and finally having been opened in 1970 the Guineueta Park aimed to provide some green space and recreational areas to the many immigrants that arrived in the 50s and 60s of the former century and that settled in this area. Today the park remains to be one of Barcelona’s liveliest and busiest parks as it is a meeting point and social space for both residents of the Guineueta and the Verdum district. The central square of the park is the place for meetings and celebrations and on Sundays the Sardana (Catalan music and dance) group L'Ideal d'en Clavé from the Las Roquetes district offers Sardana dances in this area. These make the park a lively and active area that has an atmosphere comparable to that of Central Park in New York as people of all age groups meet and socialize in this area throughout the day.

Gardens of the Princep de Girona

Parks

gardens of the princep de gironaThese Gardens have been built on the grounds of the former Girona cavalry barracks which appears incredible when considering what the park has turned into since then.
There are many different opportunities offered so that it is easy to spend an entire day relaxing in the Gardens. First of all the nice lake with various interconnected small islands is worth visiting but there are many other areas such as children’s playgrounds, a  dog run, ping-pong tables and a bar with tables under the shade of the pine trees.
All of these areas invite to rest, relax, play or eat and families can enjoy some good quality time here together.

Gaudí's dead

Not much people know how Gaudí died. From what it known he was hit by a tram in front of Sagrada Familia when he crossed the street aiming to go to the construction side of his masterpiece.

He lay in the hospital "Hospital de la Santa Creu", but people didn't recognise the famous artist because of his neglected appereance.

Only three days later, a friend of him found him in this hospital and asked for a private room for him. The same day, 10 July 1926 he died.

He was buried in the midst of La Sagrada Família.
