When objections were raised as to the extended completion date of the Sagrada Familia, Gaudí said:
"Don´t worry, my client isn´t in a hurry"

Gaudi was the youngest of five children but had quite a lonely childhood as he could not play with friends his age due to the pain caused by rheumatism, which made it hard for him to walk let alone run.
Gaudi was not born in Barcelona, he was in fact born in Reus a town just south of the city.
Gaudi even designed the famous and vibrant Placa Reial just off the Ramblas. Now a square full of night clubs and restaurants it is still characterised by its palm trees and lamposts.
The wavy walls in Casa Mila were meant to portray the ocean and the doors and windows look like they are made of sand, an example of Gaudi's love of nature.
